Stephen Wade Auto Center, Goldenwest Credit Union and Canyon Media recently awarded checks to Washington County high schools for participating in their eighth annual Kick4Cash events.
The Kick4Cash events were designed to award money to local high school clubs, teams and organizations. The event allows three students who represent their organization to kick for cash during the halftime show at each of the five area high schools.
“I look forward to football season every year because of the Kick4Cash events,” said Jamie Bahlmann, public relations director for Stephen Wade Auto Center. “It has been so great building relationships with the school administration, as well as the students, to give back to the teams that don’t always get large donations from sponsors.”
Each high school posts a Kick4Cash video on its Instagram account, where students can comment their favorite club or team name. The top three clubs will then have five chances to kick a successful field goal at their next home game halftime event and earn up to $500 for their organization.
“The clubs are very selective about who they choose to be their kicker,” Bahlmann said, adding that most are soccer players or kickers for the football teams.
This year, a total of $5,450 was awarded to local schools across five Kick4Cash events.
“Kick4Cash has evolved into a great way for clubs, teams and organizations to earn money for their organization,” Bahlmann said. “Each year, Goldenwest Credit Union, Stephen Wade Auto Center and Canyon Media contribute to our students’ success.”
There were 70 organizations that participated, with 15 clubs receiving money from the Kick4Cash events. More than 15,500 comments were posted by students who represented their organizations.
“I love being part of this event because it gives back to the school and the students, and it’s really, really fun,” said Mark Musgrave, “The Voice You Know” from Fox Sports Southern Utah.
Over the past seven years, more than $56,000 has been donated to local high schools through the Kick4Cash events alone. That doesn’t include the amount donated during basketball season through the Shoot4Cash events, which challenge students to sink half-court shots for money.
Stephen Wade Auto Center is Southern Utah’s Auto Mall, offering the largest selection of new and used vehicles. Goldenwest Credit Union is a not-for-profit cooperative owned by its 150,000 members. Canyon Media provides creative and effective marketing, advertising and promotion-based strategies for local and regional businesses.
Together, these companies have partnered to provide an opportunity to give back to local area high schools by creating and administering the Kick4Cash and Shoot4Cash events each year.
