On Saturday, March 26th a dedication ceremony was held for a new black granite monument to honor the Gold Star Families of Southern Utah at Historic Town Square Park in the heart of the City of St. George.
Over 200 Gold Star families from across the country attended the event at Town Square Park to honor loved ones and welcome the 91st Gold Star monument in the United States, the second built in Utah, according to the Spectrum.
Members of those Gold Star families were invited to speak the names of their lost loved ones while laying yellow roses at the base of the monument.
“It was a very emotional day. Because it's for the families of those who have fallen and so just having so many of them here, it just was it was incredible,” St. George Mayor Michele Randall said.
The Wade Family Foundation, a Platinum Donor having provided more than $10,000 to the project, is proud to have played a part in the creation of this new monument here in St. George. Jamie Bahlmann, the Director of the Wade Family Foundation, oversaw the marketing efforts and donor representation for the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument Committee. She spent countless hours working with other committee members to create an event specifically for the families that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. In addition, Stephen Wade Auto Center graphic designer Jheresa Cartagena designed the invitations and program.
Together, in conjunction with the Gold Star Memorial committee, they created a lasting representation for local businesses and families that care deeply about our freedoms and for the brave men and women who put their lives on the line.
